2025 – A Year in Review: Global Wind Projects’ Highlights From the Past Twelve Months
As we approach the end of 2025, we would like to thank our hardworking team, valued clients, and trusted suppliers for their continued support throughout another successful year for Global Wind Projects. It has been a year in which we have taken a step forward with launching new branding in line with our parent company’s new identity, while continuing to deliver projects across the UK and Ireland.
In the first half of the year, our focus was on Enoch Hill Wind Farm in East Ayrshire, consisting of 13 N133 Delta4000 series turbines and two N117 Delta series turbines. We were contracted by Nordex UK & Ireland to provide cranes and skilled wind turbine technicians for the installation of the WTGs, as well as to oversee the mechanical and electrical completion of the project. Over the duration of the works, more than 30,000 hours were completed by Global Wind Projects personnel, and in partnership with Global Crane Services, the Liebherr LTM 1750 was deployed, carrying out 105 component lifts across the project.
Consisting of eleven V117-4.2 MW wind turbines, Global Wind Projects also successfully delivered its first crane project for Vestas at Corlacky Wind Farm in Northern Ireland, where we were responsible for all lifting operations, including the provision of cranes for both pre-installation and main installation activities, along with lift supervisors and slinger signallers.
We then moved on to providing cranes and skilled wind turbine technicians for the installation works at the 43 MW Farranrory Wind Farm in County Tipperary, delivered for our client Nordex UK & Ireland on behalf of Ørsted. Around 30 members of our team were assigned to the project, the LG 1750 and LTM 1230 were deployed to manage the lifts required for the nine N133/4800 turbines. This marked our fourth project with Nordex in Ireland, alongside several projects delivered across the UK.
Towards the end of the year, we delivered a two-turbine project at the Killgallioch Extension in South Ayrshire for Nordex, on a ScottishPower Renewables project, mobilising at short notice to ensure the turbines were installed before the end of the year. This brings us to the conclusion of the year at Douglas West Extension for Nordex UK & Ireland, who are supplying twelve N149/5.X turbines for Capital Dynamics’ new onshore wind farm. Our team is currently mobilised to provide cranes and skilled wind turbine technicians for the installation of the WTGs, as well as overseeing the mechanical and electrical completion of the project, which is expected to be completed in early 2026.
Ryan Burke, Global Wind Projects’ General Manager, commented: “I would like to start by thanking our hardworking office and site teams, consisting of more than 140 GWO-certified specialists, for their continued hard work. I would also like to thank our clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and wider partners for their ongoing support throughout the year. Global Wind Projects continues to grow at pace and has established itself as a trusted partner to some of the largest contractors in the renewables sector.”
Ryan concluded: “2025 has been a strong year for the business, with several key installation projects delivered across the UK and Ireland. Our Main Component Replacement teams also continued to work across numerous projects, completing in excess of 75 exchanges throughout the year. Looking ahead, 2026 is already shaping up to be another significant year, with an offshore project pipeline secured from mid-2026 through to the end of 2028 that will see skilled technicians and support teams mobilised from our bases across Scotland and Northern Ireland to deliver what will be the largest projects we have undertaken to date.”
