2024 Year in Review: Powering Ahead - A Year of Growth, Achievements, and Milestones
As we approach the end of 2024, we would like to thank our hardworking team, valued clients, and trusted suppliers, as well as our parent company, Global Port Services, and sister company, Global Crane Services, for their continued support during what has been another exciting year for Global Wind Projects. We'd also like to take this opportunity to share some of our highlights and milestones.
We began the year by installing twenty-nine N117 turbines at SSE Renewables' Yellow River Wind Farm in Rhode, County Offaly, Ireland, for our valued client, Nordex. Our scope for this project encompassed the provision of cranes and installation teams, ensuring the mechanical and electrical completion of the project. This was followed immediately by providing Nordex with cranes and skilled wind turbine technicians for the installation of fifteen WTGs, as well as ensuring the mechanical and electrical completion for RWE's largest onshore wind farm built in Scotland, Enoch Hill in East Ayrshire.
This year, we were also proud to partner with Global Crane Services, who were appointed by DSV Air & Sea to install two bespoke Kone Goliath overhead cranes in Govan, Glasgow. For this project, Global Crane Services engaged trusted suppliers for engineering and Self-Propelled Modular Transporters. They also collaborated with us for contract lift planning and labour resources, as the job demanded specialised personnel with the capabilities to ensure everything ran smoothly and, of course, safely. We were fortunate to deploy our two dual-branded Liebherr LG 1750 cranes for the job.
Ryan Burke, Global Wind Projects’ General Manager, personally noted:
"I’d like to start by thanking our hardworking office and on-site teams, comprising over 140 specialists, for their ongoing dedication. A big thanks also goes to our clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and broader partners for their continued support throughout the year.
"It has been especially rewarding to build on our successful partnership with Nordex on Yellow River and Enoch Hill Onshore Wind Farm. Following numerous successful projects in Ireland throughout 2023, and Yellow River this year, we also became a member of Wind Energy Ireland!
"2024 has been a remarkable year for us, particularly as we close out only our fourth year of operation. Looking ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be another significant year, with investments and exciting projects across the UK and Ireland already in the pipeline."
